Mr Selfridge was broadcast, to great acclaim, in early 2013. It tells the story of how flamboyant American Harry Selfridge came to open Selfridge's Department Store in Oxford Street. It took as its basis the book Shopping, Seduction and Mr Selfridge by Lindy Woodhead. In the series Tim plays John Musker, the financial backer for Selfridge's. Harry is introduced to Mr Musker at a shooting party, by Lady Loxley. I was incredibly disappointed with the piddling amount of screentime given to Mr Musker. The writers could surely have come up with more of a storyline for him than simply walking two steps behind Lady Slutbunny and worrying about his investments.
Sadly he will not be back in the second series and I am completely heart-broken about it. Should there be a third series and Mr Musker still does not return I shall be tempted to pen a strongly worded letter to the script-writer, Andrew Davies.
